Timothy Mark Bespoke Fine Furniture
Timothy Mark represents the collaboration of fine design with traditional craftsmanship. We combine a modern interpretation of classic style with the finest materials, specification and workmanship to achieve individual pieces of natural beauty.
Using traditional construction in a simple manner we offer a 'Contemporary’ and a ‘Classic' range of furniture using the finest figured English woods. With specially made ironmongery and rigorous attention to quality the pieces offer unsurpassed elegance and durability.
We make in a wide variety of woods and designs according to individual requirements. This site is intended as a design guide rather than a catalogue and I hope you will find it useful in understanding the potential of contemporary cabinet making.
We care for our environment and traditions, not only in the materials we use, but also in the processes and management of the company and workshops. This is fundamental to our understanding of quality.
All Timothy Mark pieces are made in our workshops in Dorset by individual makers of the highest calibre, most of whom have been working with us for about a decade.
Tenon jointing and dovetailing is hand-crafted to the highest standards. Cabinets are made in a framed panel construction using fielded and mirrored solid panels. Pieces are finished all around so that they sit comfortably in the middle of the room as against the wall. Drawer linings and internals are made from the same wood as the remainder of the piece. This is possibly the only furniture available for which this is the case. Our furniture is not stained (unless specifically requested) as we believe that this diminishes the natural beauty of the wood which will change over time. Pieces are hand finished - normally in oil and wax though French Polishing or other finishes are available on request.
Each piece is individually numbered with the Timothy Mark makers' plate in hallmarked silver - for furniture this in engraved with an individual piece number, makers' identification and date.
Some visitors to this site will have visited our old shop in New Quebec Street off Oxford Street. In order to keep our pricing competitive we have taken the decision to work from our design studio and workshop only. this means that our prices do not need to reflect the overheads associated.
Depending on your requirements we will be more than pleased to arrange a visit to the workshop or to see sample pieces, so please feel free to call to discuss what you are looking for
Commission a piece
All our pieces are bespoke. We consider the design stages very seriously as a meticulous process of interaction between client and designer.
DESIGN IDEAS We recommend you to tell us the type and size of the piece you wish to commission as well as the size and shape of the room where the furniture will live. Give us an idea of the colour of wood you prefer. An acceptable budget you are willing to spend is important so we can design accordingly.
PRELIMINARY SKETCH If you have the chance to visit us for a face to face consultation with Timothy Jeffery, he will be glad to produce some sketch concepts for your review. We also produce realistic illustrations for our clients before the pieces are made.
PRODUCTION Once the pricing of the piece has been approved a 50% of the estimated price is required before proceeding with the making. During this stage our craftsmen are fully engaged in the process from the raw materials to the finish piece.
